Title: Medea Topic Sentences
Post by: ally1784 on April 11, 2021, 06:31:43 pm
Guys if this is my topic: What danger lies in passion?
Can you take me through of what I need to consider and what should each my body paragraph be. Also I wrote one topic sentence and I'm thinking to write 2 more but i need some assistance.
This is my first topic sentence.
1. Euripides explores that passion inhibits one’s capacity for rationality which is demonstrated through Medea’s failed marriage where her love for Jason is replaced with hatred, fury and grief.

Also anyone have ideas for this topic: ‘Medea shows that seeking revenge undermines any hope of justice.’ Discuss.

Hi ally1784,

My advice is to think about passion in Medea (because she's the most passionate character) and think about what moral failures her passion drives her to. I'm not sure you can argue your first topic sentence because Medea's response to Jason's betrayal is coldly (one could say inhumanely) rational - eg the way she murders Glauce, her rationale for murdering her own children - all of this is she justifies through very chilling logic. So I would encourage you to consider other ways in which she fails (and she does!) - morally, ethically, socially.

I hope that helps!
