Picking subjects

(1/1)

PattyOOO:
Hello people, I know that this is a very broad question.
The subjects I think I will pick are math methods + specialist maths, English, chemistry, physics and something chill, like health or pe idk yet. My question is how do I know if I'm smart enough to do these subjects? In year 9 I got straight a's  without studying, I know it's far easier than units 1234 but I am willing to put in the time and effort. Btw I genuinely enjoy maths but I'm scared spec will be too hard for me, I hope to pursue medicine or medical physics.
Thank you for answering this question

Howdy!

When picking subjects, the first 2 things you need to think are:
1. Is it a prerequisite for what I want to do at uni?
2. With these subjects, can I maximise my ATAR?

If you're going good in methods this year, and you really, really enjoy it, I suggest you stay in methods and choose specialist. Heads up, physics and chem together is difficult, especially in Unit 4 (personal experience, lol). However, if you enjoy both, go for it. My best advice is to try your best from day 1. But even if you don't enjoy specialist/think its too hard, its alright. You can still drop out after Unit 1.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself yet, and think it through. Ask multiple people and what they think, especially people who did that combo of subjects.

Hope this helps,
