There's not a single teenager on Earth that didn't tear up in Never Back Down when Soulja Boy came on.

Crank that, Soulja Boy. Crank that, forever.

edit:

Can you believe that mix-up?!

Never Back Down had an amazing soundtrack. When they played Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - False Pretense during the training montage that shit was so hard. That film is such a great example of 2006-2008. pure quality. also shoutout to Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift. That films soundtrack was also AMAZING. Well at least it was for 10 year old me.

My answer has to be Cloud Atlas though. Not that the soundtrack is great to listen to by itself as standalone music, but how it fits into that film is amazing. absolute masterpiece. The critics at the toronto film festival who watched it gave it a 10 minute standing ovation but the film never really took off with the general population. It's just one of those films you either love it or you get bored in 15 mins and turn it off, it just depends if youre the type of person to get envloped in a movie for 2 and a half hours or if you fidget and get up for food or move around etc. but boi that shit goes so hard. If anyone hasn't seen it the film is worth watching JUST for how the soundtrack is adapted across the scenes in the film.

How about music that was not written specially for movies? Here are my personal favourites:
Jupiter from The Planets, used in Paradise Road
The Organ Symphony by Saint Saens, used in Babe
Elgar's Cello Concerto used in Paradise Road and Lorenzo's Oil
Nimrod from the Enigma Variations, used in Australia and Elizabeth
Ride of the Valkyries by Wagner, used in Apocalypse Now

Everything Hans Zimmer x Chris Nolan. So Interstellar, the Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, etc. Also The Imitation Game, Narnia.

Yes, I love Hans Zimmer, and the Dark Knight music is great. Narnia is another I had forgotten. We had to watch The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in English in Year 8 and I hated the movie but loved the music! :D

Ditto.

Just to segue into TV show soundtracks- tbh the Game of Thrones opening music is pretty good imo. :)

listening to movie soundtracks (on repeat, pretending my life is as just as interesting and I'm not just walking to the bus), is defs a guilty pleasure of mine.

In terms of soundtracks (not including musicals), Harry Potter is iconic. Also really like the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack, Edward Scissorhands and the Jungle Book (particularly the instrumental opening, when they made the remake they used the exact same soundtrack as the original opening, and i literally teared up the nostalgia was real). The Game of the Thrones soundtrack is also fab - 'In the Light of the Seven' being the standout. The Battle Royale soundtrack (Japanese film with a pretty similar plot line to the Hunger Games) is also really good.

For songs with actual lyrics, most Disney films because they're great but also for nostalgia - Lion King, Robin Hood (Not in Nottingham cover by Mumford and sons is blessed), Aristocats, Beauty and the Beast, are probs my faves though. Toy Story's 'You've got a Friend in Me' and 'When She Loved Me' are great songs. 'Pure Imagination' from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is probably one of the most beautiful songs of all time. Tim Burton's 'A Nightmare before Christmas' and 'The Corpse Bride' have great soundtracks as well!

Probably took this a bit far but yay soundtracks <3

After analysing the film ‘Billy Elliot’ for an ENTIRE term in English class, I’ve learned to love its soundtrack. Some of my favourites from the soundtrack have to be: Cosmic Dancer, I Love to Boogie, Children of the Revolution (used this as evidence in my essays for my trial and HSC exam and the more I write about it, the more I love it!) and Bang a Gong (Get It On).

A while ago I bought off iTunes an album called the Classic 100 in the Movies which is basically a selection of the best 'classical style' music in movies, and it brought to my attention a new favourite: Gabriel's Oboe, from The Mission. I've now listened to it way too often, but still love it.

All of these are great but we are seriously lacking in Tarantino soundtracks! I grew up listening to the Kill Bill soundtracks and Django Unchained is pretty awesome too! Ennio Morricone is an incredible composer!

If you include TV shows, the soundtracks from Game of Thrones and Westworld are amazing. Ramin Djawadi is a genius. Favourite would have to be ‘Light of the Seven’ from the trial scene in S6 E10 of GoT.

Ahhh yes! I love the GOT and Westworld soundtracks! The Handmaid's Tale one is also amazing!
