Hi!
We do not need one for the HSC exam.
Hope this helps!

Hey, infinityandbeyond!
Will ditto with meerae's answer :) For future cohorts who see this thread, I'll just outline that you'll only be assessed on your related text internally; after that, you won't need it for the HSC exam!

Hey Everyone,
For the related text, can I use the same author but just another one of their works?
Or
Does the related text have to be from a different composer/ author, from the prescribed common module?
Thankyou!

Hey, Coolmate!
You're welcome to use the same author and one of their other works; there's definitely nothing stopping you from doing that! However, it'd be wiser to choose a related text that both shares and contrasts ideas with your prescribed text to give you more room for discussion. Since you have a nonfiction text, I would recommend a film, poetry or a play to have a contrast in form which will also to let you explore other interesting ways of representing the human experience with a different kind of text. It's completely up to you so long as the related text complements the prescribed in a way that will be engaging! Hope that helps :)
