Hello.

I need some advice over this whole hsc atar thing -- right now my internal marks are pretty average around 70s-80s, my ranks are near the mid-top of the class. But i feel really crap because i would like to get an Atar over 95, but i just dont know if i will get them... How do i get over this? Because i feel like this thought keeps overwhelming my ability to study every day and do the work that i need to do

Hey Mario!!

I think the first thing to recognise is that those marks definitely don't exclude you from achieving a 95+ ATAR. The system always allows you to improve. You can read this article if you want to know how it works!

Second, you need to know that you will never improve by dwelling/worrying about this sort of thing. If you spend an hour worrying about it or calculating marks or whatever, that's an hour you could have spent writing an essay or studying a tough concept!

What's done is done, and what's to come isn't here yet. All that is in your control is what's in front of you right now. You CAN control how much you study, you CAN control whether you get help with questions when you need it, you can control whether you spend your time working hard or procrastinating. All of that is your choice, and at the end of the day, people who make good choices will find their results improving! ;D

Do you read over the feedback on past tests/assignments? Do you have clear directions about what you need to do to improve? :)
