It means that they haven't decided whether or not 2012+ students will be eligible for the guarantee, as they probably want to look at a few years of data to determine how many students are taking it up, is it viable etc.

There's probably not enough demand for them to justify including it?
That list may not be exhaustive though, check the future students website

it seems ridiculous that people can get in to med based purely on academia, and bypass an interview/umat/gamsat process.

They still have an interview which they must pass.
The GAMSAT/UMAT wouldn't do a great deal to filter out those who are in it for the wrong reasons or lack the communication skills either.

Passing the interview under the guarantee is very different from passing the interview under a competitive entrance scheme. I've said something similar before but if you don't pass the interview as a guaranteed student then you really shouldn't be in the profession.
And with respect to the guarantee, I think the concern would be over the fact that it potentially ties up a lot of places for students that may not be suitable. To be perfectly honest, a 99.9 ATAR doesn't really qualify you to do graduate study in a completely unrelated field.

Its because no gamsat is required for those who get 99+ (fullfee) and 99.9 (CSP).

i also mean an interview is yet another safety net to rule out those who are inept, but were able to do well academically. I place little value on ATAR as a measure of one's aptitude, so I like the fact that med entry is currently based equally on UMAT, ATAR and interview.

I want to see the 2011 UQ cohort, GAMSAT cutoff was 71 (top <1 percentile) because there's no interview or GPA taken into consideration
