Title: [HSC] Predict Your Subject Scores/ATAR, Compare on December 13/14!

It's ATAR Notes tradition! ;D

Now that exams have almost finished for 2018, it's time to reflect. The next month or so can feel like a pretty long wait, so why not fill the time a little by predicting your results for each subject, and then for the ATAR overall? When the time comes on December 13 & December 14, you can then compare your estimations to the real thing. :)

Very far off from my expectations at the beginning of the year unfortunately, but I have solid rankings so atleast I have that to rely on to some extent.

Overall - 98.5 - but lets go with 97.4 because it was the actual guess.

English advanced -65 (my internals were good just not very good at english exams)

Maths- 86
Math extension- hopefully 60% but probably 50%
Geography- 93%
Physics -84%
Chinese continuers -81%

But at the end of the day its not the end of the world if i dont get the atar i want \_(-_-)_/

Also didn't want to sound cocky but hoping Ext. 2 English is actually a Band 6... ;D

My score predictions are all lower than what I got internally because I am not 100% sure how well I did externally! :P

Biology: 94 (I didn't do too well in internals but looking at the marking guidelines, i'm pretty confident)
Physics: 88 (don't expect too much from physics.)
Maths: 86-88 (missed quite a few questions plus the usual errors i make)
Maths Ext1: 30/50 (don't even ask. I don't regret doing the subject though; it was interesting.)
Software: 86-88 (I sort of got the gist of the algorithms but it depends how harshly they mark it i guess.)

Atar: 89-94 (Quite a wide range but really just hope)

Economics : 90 (88, 91) --------------- Wildcard since short answer felt difficult ???

Overall ATAR: 98.40

Thoughts: Sucks that I bombed externals, especially for MX1 and the exams following. Sometimes dreams are demolished before your eyes. The challenge is to begin construction again. First step, get my white card :)

HSC ninja is giving me ~96, but I reckon that’s a bit high. I’m super content with my individual marks - all of them surpassed my estimates significantly. I’m especially happy with English though, my exam mark was 96 (internal was 95) which is crazy considering I frantically emailed my teacher after the exam about the fact that I didn’t do my last Hamlet para lmao. The 89 is eco is bugging me a bit but honestly I’m shocked I even got that to begin with. I’m mainly just super devo that I just missed out on all rounders ahahaha but in general I’m feeling okay about it lmao

Pretty devastated. But I guess I knew it was coming. The 97.4 I predicted is spot on with my estimate ahah.

Super happy overall but those two 89s and 88 are irritating. Honestly this whole week I doubted getting any band 6s and I need 92 for my course / 95 for the double degree.

Anyway hope everyone’s happy with their results and all their hard work!

Mathematics:78 (this is legitimately a miracle considering how I failed in math and the exam was a nightmare)
Modern History: 92
Physics: 73 (again, not very confident in physics so I'm not complaining here- it's not gonna count to my ATAR anyway :/)
SOR: 42

I'm very surprised overall because I thought I was gonna fail (which was why I didn't do a prediction because marks always made me stressed).

But yeah, congrats to everyone else :D

Honestly I’m so shocked. Nobody in my school has gotten a band 6 for the last few years, so I genuinely didn’t even think I’d get one. Incredibly thankful to ATARNotes for the help :’)!

I was thrilled I got a band 6 for english! Apart from that I was pretty happy with my marks, some I was hoping for higher but still good! Slightly frustrating I was 1 mark off an all rounder ahaha but Can't complain at all! (I didn't do a prediction either because I honestly had no idea, and I didn't want to get my hopes up).

English advanced - 91 ( ;D ;D)
Extension 1 maths - 42
Chemistry - 89
Earth and environmental - 91 (slightly disappointed, thought I could get higher)
Geography - 90
Mathematics (2017) - 93
I know music (2017) won't count towards my atar.

Apparently my predicted atar is 96.8, which is amazing!!! Was not expecting that high!

Konnichiwa! I was really hesitant to look at my results but my sister finally convinced me to look at them over lunch. I am very content with all!

Actual:

English: 88 (wow, didn't expect to get this high!!)
Maths: 82 (so relieved, maths had me worried after the exam)
Biology: 90 (interesting, thought I would have gotten a bit higher but still happy with a band 6)
Food Tech: 94 (a real gem, my raw mark must have been smick to get this mark!)

And to complete the set, 2017 results:
Chemistry: 88
PDHPE: 93

Calculators are putting me around 95-96. Tomorrow shall be interesting, seeing as my atar will use data from 2017 as well. :)

And today?

I got over my modest estimations of ATAR.

My real marks were not as high though...

Eng Adv: 84
Math (2U): 84
Eng. Ext. 1: 44/50
Eng. Ext. 2: 46/50
Mod. His: 85
His. Ext: 45/50
Legal: 87

ATAR: 89.55

Slightly bummed at first cause my goal was 90+...That was what I had been striving for the whole year.

But now putting it behind me and deciding to just accept my early offer from August, which means I'm doing Law + Global Studies *double degree* at ACU. I will travwel a LOT between North Sydney and Strathfield....back and forth. YAaaaaaaaaaaayyyy

Hello! Coming from someone who got a very similar ATAR to you (I got 89.50), I completely understand being bummed at first. Getting 90+ was not exactly the end goal for me but I know it would've been nice. The ATAR calculators said that I could get 90+ though 89.50 appeared in my UAC app and I was disappointed. Then I realised- hey 89.50 is still pretty decent! I survived my ups and downs during my HSC, all the dramas and whatnot. So even surviving the HSC and getting my ATAR was an achievement in itself. Also very similar to you as well- I had already gotten accepted an offer (my first preference in fact!) weeks before ATARs came out so like ?? It didn't even matter. What mattered that I tried my best during my HSC and that I got my first preference.

Hope your double degree goes by amazingly ;D Congrats on your superb marks and ATARs as well !!

That's awesome! It makes me really happy to hear similar stories to my own, and talk to other people in the same boat and going through the same stuff.

I see you like film-making and are probably really passionate about it. It's like how I feel when I'm writing. Can't wait to see your films on the big screen, Beatroot ;)
