can i still apply for a course if i got one mark below the prerequisite?Hey Waldo! I’ve seen this happen before and it breaks my heart to tell you that sadly, no, you won’t be able to. The fortunate thing is bridging courses and trying similar courses with lower prereqs then transferring into your desired course are totally an option here!

That’s really unusual and a really rare circumstance. I’ve actually never seen your friend’s case ever happen...What would I gain out of just making this up... I’m just trying to understand just how set in stone prerequisites are. She went to a disadvantaged school and had the Access Melbourne thing as well if that’s any help. I think people should still keep their preferences regardless if they satisfy the prereqs or not and just wait and see.
If my atar was below the required atar yet it was higher than the lowest atar accepted, do I still have a chance of getting into my course?
Thanks
Hi,It's still possible that you'll get in through round 1, you just aren't eligible for a guaranteed offer. If that's the course you really want to do then you should still leave it as your first preference, however you should consider also having courses in your preference list that have a lower entry requirement in case you miss out. So yeah, just do your preferences as per normal - it just means that you aren't guaranteed an offer as you would be if you had gotten 75.
I got a 73.85 ATAR.
I also received an email from Monash of being eligible for their Monash Guarantee.
Since the courses I'm looking at have a guarantee of 75, should I wait for round 1?
Cheers.

Hi AngelWings! Thank you for making this Q&A thread. No worries.
Just wondering, if I have a graduate degree package for Melbourne Uni in my course application, and I have fulfilled all prereqs and have gotten above the minimum atar, does that mean I am guaranteed into that course, even though I haven’t received an offer yet?Short answer: You have a very high chance of getting in, but I can't guarantee with 100% certainty that you'll get the course (probability will be really high though). However, it's nothing to worry about. If I had to state a percentage of you getting in, it'd be near 90-95% with the last 5-10% being due to some rare situations - stuff you don't need to fret about.

She went to a disadvantaged school and had the Access Melbourne thing as well if that’s any help. I think people should still keep their preferences regardless if they satisfy the prereqs or not and just wait and see. You're not wrong at all. Your friend might have got in from SEAS and/or subject bonuses which may have overridden her SSs. See, I've always been told that prereqs are set in stone, but that was back in 2014. Things might have changed since then and I'm just unaware of this, so thanks for enlightening me to your friend's situation.
I put in 3 or 2 categories of SEASMiniturtle's advice is still spot on. Subject bonuses may also get you in, so you still have a chance of getting in regardless.
Will it be anough?
Hi, I was just wondering when and how I can change my uni preferences? I've tried logging into the VTAC website but all it does is redirect me to my atar results page. Thanks. It seems like the page is overloaded at the moment, lots of people are having trouble getting in - try it again tomorrow and you should be able to do it. You have a few days before change of preferences closes (someone else can probably give you the exact date) so don't worry about it just yet!
Hi, I was just wondering when and how I can change my uni preferences? I've tried logging into the VTAC website but all it does is redirect me to my atar results page. Thanks.Everyone's having the same issue (see here). Have a little patience and you'll be able to change yours soon too. Preferences aren't due until Wednesday 19th, so you've got time.
I got 93.15 and have seas for a medical reason.
Think its possible for me to make it into melbourne commerce?
I recently got an email from monash about vice-chancellors scholarship. Does this apply to any course I do if I accept it?
if you do a course first year (say optometry) and do ucat during that year and want to transfer to medGenerally (and please double check this yourself), it's just how you fared in your first course (optometry in your example) after a year (or more) of uni study.
do they base whether you get in or not using atar or how you did in the first course
Is there even any chance of me getting a Vice-chancellor offer for Monash. I was 0.1 off. I would imagine they would be strict so I'm not really expecting a yes for this answer. Thank you xIt depends on the amount of scholarships they have (130 for Year 12s), the disadvantage(s) you faced e.g. financial, medical, etc. and the amount of people who just generally fit the criteria and accept the scholarship. So... chances are very unlikely, as you can expect, but possible in a rare coincidence.
Do all scholarship offers come out today?A few. Unis can only contact so many people in one day and confirm things on their end, so expect scholarships to take a while (so up until course offers come out). Some of the smaller scholarships e.g. UniStart come up in like March/April once you start uni as well.
Hi I am just wondering what is the chance of getting into biomedicine in Melb uni with an ATAR of 96.15?According to this, very high. Guaranteed if you were accepted into the Access Melbourne program.
What are my chances of getting into Melb Uni biomed with an atar of 92? (minimum atar is 95)Chances look okay. You might still qualify for some subject bonuses. I haven't been able to find any so far, but that's just because I'm wrapped up here on AN and haven't had a moment. I'd check to see if that lifts your aggregate and therefore your ATAR to the 95 minimum. (Read up on subject bonuses on my previous posts in this thread.) Remember 95 is the clearly-in for first year uni 2018. It might change a little in 2019 due to demand and spots available.
I'm ineligible for Access Melb but I did apply for SEAS category 1 and received the Monash Guarantee, which means I may still get SEAS points.
Should I change my first preference from biomed to science so that I can receive a definite first round offer (minimum atar for science is 85), accept it and then place biomed as my first pref to see if I get a second round offer? Or should I keep biomed as my first pref from the outset? I just don't want to deal with the anxiety of not getting a first round offer :(Well, if you ultimately want to study Biomed at UoM, then keep that in Preference #1 no matter your ATAR. There's a rare, but possible chance if you leave it there that you'll get that offer. After that, it depends on what you like best and think is best for yourself. Are you dead set on studying Biomed, studying at UoM or something else more?
According to this, very high. Guaranteed if you were accepted into the Access Melbourne program.
Thank you so much for replying!!
Sorry but can you please explain the access Melbourne program?
And doesn’t the clearly in rank changes every year? Before 2016 wasn’t it like 98 or even higher?
Access Melbourne provides a guarantee of an offer if you qualify for SEAS and achieve the minimum ATAR

Hi, I got an ATAR of 87.55 and I have been accepted into Access Melbourne for financial and underrepresented school. I want to do a Bachelor of Commerce that has a guaranteed spot for those with an 88 ATAR with SEAS. I'm only .45 off, so would I still possibly be considered for the course? Last year someone got accepted with a 81.10. I've definitely got more than needed for the prerequisites and I've also done Accounting, which I'm not sure whether it would be of any help. Thank you!Yeah, I don't see why not. You've exceeded the minimum ATAR, got a fair bit of SEAS and potentially a subject bonus. Probably still a good chance. If it's ultimately what you want to do, keep it at first preference. :)

I thought Melb Uni didn't offer subject bonuses? I can't find any info on their website :-\I haven't had the chance to look it up so far. Pretty sure they offered it back when I was applying via VTAC (2014) so I'm kind of hopeful they've kept it somewhere and I just haven't seen it yet. I'll have a deeper look as soon as I get the chance. :)
Hey so I am intending to study arts/law at USYD which requires a 99.5 ATAR. I achieved a 96.95 however I have an EAS application being a low socioeconomic school which lowers the ATAR to 95 under the broadway scheme. Is admission into the broadway scheme guaranteed if you have a successful EAS application? If so, that means I am likely to receive an offer? Is that so?Not super familiar with USYD so I can’t answer that side of things but definitely leave it as your first preference! Just make sure you have other preferences in your list in case you miss out.
Anyone who has been through USYD broadway scheme who can help me out please dooooo as I'm really unsure as to whether I should swap something else into my first preference as I won't get into USYD or hold on and hope for the best.
:)

I achieved a 96.95 however I have an EAS application being a low socioeconomic school which lowers the ATAR to 95 under the broadway scheme. Is admission into the broadway scheme guaranteed if you have a successful EAS application?Well, according to the Broadway Scheme website, it says it can be based on EAS, but not actually guaranteed by a successful EAS application. Think of it as a set of two barriers. One has to confirm you got EAS, the next is that you have to get accepted into the Broadway Scheme.
If so, that means I am likely to receive an offer? Is that so?If you have received notice of acceptance into the Broadway scheme, likely. If EAS covers you that far, likely.
I'm really unsure as to whether I should swap something else into my first preference as I won't get into USYD or hold on and hope for the best.If UAC does things like VTAC, then you should keep the first preference as what you really want to study the most, aside from conditional offers stating that you must put them as first preference.
Hi, just received ATAR and unfortunately missed out on USYD Law guaranteed entry by 0.25. I have it as first preference. Should I be expecting to perhaps get an offer in 2nd or 3rd round coz I'm really desperate to stay in Sydney and not have to go interstate. Thankyou for any help :)Yeah generally they give offers to people with lower ATARs in later rounds. Regardless, leave it at preference 1 to give yourself the best chance :)
hey I got 87.8, applied for SEAS but am NOT in access Melbourne. I want to get into BA at Melbourne. The minimum ATAR is 85 but according to the course website the clearly-in is 89.3. So does that mean I'm not guaranteed for the 1st or even 2nd round?Means you're not guaranteed, but it doesn't mean you won't get an offer so leave it in your preferences.

Previously known as the ‘clearly-in rank’, this is the lowest selection rank to which offers were made this year, including relevant adjustments. This should be used as a guide for entry.
Thanks for the reply, what I should have added earlier is that the below website (study.unimelb rather than ba.unimelb) doesn't mention the clearly-in whatsoever except in referring to the lowest selection rank (in this case 85):I interpreted that to mean that you have to score at least 85 to be considered (unless you qualify for SEAS) however just because you score 85+ doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a place because it varies a bit each year depending on who applies and what ATARs they have.
The language seems unclear - the same as clearly-in but only a guide?. It looks to me like the minimum and clearly-in ATAR are now effectively the same for whatever reason (accepting more students?) but I need to be sure I'm not just grasping at straws.

Please help everyone :(
I calculated my adjusted atar to be 89.40 however the lowest selection rank for my course is 91.05 (monash bachelor of engieering {honours}). Can i still get an offer with this score? What is the probability?
Thankyou so much everyone!
Is going to Uni for music a good idea?If you really enjoy it and/ or want to pursue a career in music, why not?
Hey AN,If your SEAS has been already accepted (by now, most institutes have issued some type of notice as to whether that was accepted or not), then yeah, you've got a good solid chance right there. I just checked using this link and it looks like you exceeded the lowest ATAR accepted, so that's a sign in your favour too. :)
I was just wondering what my chances of getting into the Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) (Honours) at RMIT would be considering that I got a 69.05, whilst on the website it states that a 80.60 is needed. I have applied for the SEAS Category 2, as I am from a financially disadvantaged background which means I could receive up to 15 aggregate points and I am also eligible for subject bonuses for Physics and Chemistry which could be another 3 aggregate points on top of the Category 2.
Thank you! :D

Thank you for that! Was just wondering if anyone has received the SEAS email from RMIT. I have only received the Melbourne and Monash SEAS email so far and stressing out. :-\I haven't received RMIT either - not sure if they send anything or if they just add points without telling us.

Hi,Might be early days, as Access Melbourne notifications could be still arriving around this weekend, give or take several business days either side. (Same with some other institutes.)
How do I know if Melbourne Uni has accepted me for the Access Melbourne program?
Monash already emailed me saying I'm accepted for the Monash Guarantee but nothing from Melbourne.
Thanks!
For the guarantee your ATAR before SEAS adjustments is used, so unfortunately you won't be able to get in using the guarantee (as PF said). However, your SEAS adjusted ATAR may be enough to meet the clearly in. You can use this to estimate your SEAS adjusted ATAR for Monash.
I recommend leaving your courses in order of preference in case SEAS gives you enough adjustment to get in on round one.
If you haven't already, you may also wish to add a course with a clearly-in below 73 to your preference list
Good luck, and I hope this helps
(also: re your username. Getting an ATAR means you didn't fail VCE.)
It says on the calculator my estimated selection rank is 83.70 - is this a good estimation/good?
The estimation will be fairly accurate since it's made by Monash, whether it's good or not will depend on how the course you're looking at - Monash releases the ATAR profiles for their courses so you can look at that to provide some guidance.
So for BA of I.T/Arts the lowest selection rank was 81.75 where the estimated one was 83.70.
But the median is 88.65
Does anyone have any idea of my chances at a Monash or LTU excellence (Academic achievement) scholarship? I have an ATAR of 99.75, I think the first round offers have been released for both but is there a chance for second round? If so, does anyone know when/how I would find out about this?
Thanks so much!
Hey, I dont know where to ask this. Our school had told us that to apply for any scholarship all we had to do is to apply to vtac and we will automatically be considered for any scholarship we are eligible for. After looking at some unis (namely monash and melbourne) it appears that you have to also apply through the uni... Is this correct? Where do we apply for scholarships? And it seems its way past the closing date. I'm so confused
If I got more than 1 scholarship from the same uni and accepted both, will the money that they provide be added together?(I'm assuming by added together you're asking if you'll get the money from both?)
Are you also meant to receive an email from the Universities on your preferences saying they have received your SEAS application?I don't think so - I've received email/text from monash/melbourne about their guarantees but I haven't heard anything from unis that don't have their own program (RMIT, La trobe). I think you only find out if you get a guarantee, not just if you qualify for SEAS, and AFAIK only monash and Melb have guarantees.
