hi guys,
in general, we have learnt that when you wire another resistor in parallel with an initial resistor in parallel, whilst the total current increases, the current to that original resistor stays the same due to ohm's law (the voltage drop and resistance for that individual path would remain the same). what i don't understand is why adding in a short circuit is any different to this, and why the original path has all of its electrons "redirected". wouldn't the voltage drop and resistance of that individual path remain the same?
