Title: Unsure about enrolment
Post by: Zappi on November 17, 2018, 01:50:42 pm
Good afternoon all,

I've been studying Japanese SL with VSL over Distance Education for Units 1 & 2 this year and it's been going really well. I hope to continue it in Year 12 in 2019 but according to the VCAA site for Japanese SL (https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Pages/vce/studies/lote/japanese2nd/jap2ndindex.aspx), an enrolment form had to be submitted by the 19th of October (https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Documents/slforms/japanese-sl.pdf).

I wasn't made aware of this whatsoever by my teacher or my school. I've asked other students taking Japanese in Units 3 & 4 next year and they've all had to fill it out save for one other person.

I submitted my application for VSL on Wednesday with my VSL / VCE coordinator and it seems that she got the invoice without a hitch. Does this mean that I didn't need to fill this form out? I don't quite remember if I did it earlier this year or not  :-\

I really hope this doesn't disqualify me from taking Japanese next year as it was probably going to be my best and favourite subject.

EDIT 1: Fixed wording
EDIT 2:
Meaning, if you have had more than 7 years of instruction in a Korean-speaking school, you are ineligible. You would do Korean First Language in that case. If you have had less than that, you are eligible.
If you have done 1/2 you've already been approved.

Does this mean that I've already gone through the right checks?  :-\

EDIT 3: Figured out that I'm probably fine, but I'm not sure about a friend wanting to take Indonesian Units 3 & 4 next year without having taken Units 1 & 2 this year. Any clue?
