Title: VCE Art: 3/4 without 1/2
Post by: Genshai on August 12, 2019, 11:32:50 am
Hi Art Dudes,
Year 12 subjection selection is coming up soon, and I'm left with an open slot. I'm currently studying Global Empires (which is only a 1/2, no 3/4) so, i need to fulfil this void.
I'm thinking of doing units 3/4 art, but I've never done a folio (and don't know what it consists of tbh haha) and I'm not too keen on the theory. However, I really enjoy art, I guess I'm just not too sure about the folio and theory aspect.
I'm also doing Methods, Chemistry and Revs - will this workload be too severe with a folio? And is without the 1/2, will it be a hindrance?

Thank you in advance?

Didn't do art specifically, but I did / am doing three 3/4 folio subjects without having done the 1/2 and I reckon it's really not that necessary. Some theory might carry over, but it's relatively easy to catch up without having done 1/2.

Re: workload -- I'm currently doing 2 maths, a science, 3 folios, plus a uni extension subject and I think people tend to overexaggerate how much workload is involved. With some good time management and planning, and without too much procrastination, it'll be fine.

btw I thought global empires leads onto revs 3/4??

Folio subjects are really fun to do, however, do keep in mind not to leave things to the last minute! It's fine to not do 1/2. I would recommend you check out some folios of previous Year 12 who have done folio-based subjects to get a feel of how to tackle your own. Unlike other subjects, folio based ones require time and ideas (never ever erase anything from your folio trust me. It shows your progress in an idea). The workload is not that bad at all, trust me. Look at a whole pack of folios and you will get some inspiration on how to do your folio for next year.  ;D The key to doing good in folio based subjects is to not neglect it for other harder subjects!  :D

Thank you so much for the advice :) I'll definitely check out some previous folios, now that you mention it ! I didn't even think to look over past folios lmao
