Title: A question about the enrollment of UMEP math
Post by: ROYZ 2005 on September 27, 2021, 03:12:04 pm
:)Hi guys, is it possible for one to apply UMEP math at the end of year 10 with the study score of Math method Unit 1/2 and enroll in it in year 11? The website of UMEP doesn't show enough details about this. (It will be the most helpful if you can share your experience)

In ~99% of circumstances you will not be able to since it's already an enrichment program for Year 12s, so doing it in Year 11 is rarely heard of.

The only exceptions I can remember are if you're able to win numerous national-level prizes (e.g. Medal in the AMC, Top 3 prize winner in the UMelb Maths comp) or internationally (representing Aus in the IMO or in the training team for the IMO) in which case exceptions have been made for you to be able to study UMEP as early as Year 9.
