Title: finding exact roots on ti nspire
Post by: asdfkadsfj on February 20, 2022, 02:13:45 pm
hi guys,
i was trying to find the roots for the function f(x)=(x-2)^4-6
for some reason, when i type solve((x-2)^4-6=0,x) i don't get a solution - it only works when i type solve((x-2)^4=6,x). does anyone know why?
thanks :)

Mine works. Perhaps you didn't type it in correctly?

strangely, it only gives me an example when in approximate mode. in exact mode, it simply returns an empty box if in the zeros function, or if in the solve function, it returns x(x^3-8x^2+24x-32)=-10.
