Title: 5% rule

I've got a question about the 5% rule. There are around 300 students in my cohort. With the 5% rule that is 15 students. Will this mean that the full 15 students will get selected or only like 1 or 2 students will get selected if you know what I mean?????

Hi,
If 300 Students are there in your school, irrespective of how many writing the SHS exam, 15 places will be allocated to your school,
15 includes( 85% just exam outcome + 10% Equity Consideration + 5% Principal discretion) = 12/13 students based on Exam outcome, 2/3 students Equity Consideration+ Principal discretion).

Factors influence your chance are
1 How competitive you are ?
2. How competitive is your cohort?

I think it's been changed to the 4% rule (correct me if I'm wrong) and 10% for P-9 Schools.

Unless your parents have a concession card and you are on it! Then you may get in under equity consideration....

I heard this rule is not applicable to private schools, does that mean if private school students are able to perform well in exam, irrespective how many appeared all could get in . Please clarify . Thanks

The 4% rule applies to all schools BUT P-9 Colleges. Also once your school reached 4% there are no PDs offered for kids from that school.
My Dad went to our MP to complain. I suggest you do the same!
