I have no idea what calc 1 & 2 are like, but in methods, there's not that much calculus, and the calculus that in it's relatively easy.

In specialists, basically the last 2 & a half terms are all calculus (In heinemann specialists, everything from ch5-ch9 is calculus, I haven't done chapter 10 yet, so I have no idea what its like)

I was thinking in the US but yeah let's go with UoM

Wouldn't it be the same though (or very similar)?

Can't speak for Calc 2, but calc 1 covers the majority of spesh in a semester. But this is for the kids that haven't done spesh...

I don't go to UoM, but have read their prescribed mathematics textbooks, Methods/Spesh are just some good foundational things, in Calc 2, the stuff is much more advanced than your pseudo-VCE "maths". Although I'm not sure if lectures cover it or not, but if you read textbooks, you will see that you are exposed to fundamental proofs which are never covered in VCE also the maths is much more rigorous and formal unlike your slacky and untidy VCE "maths"

As said before, Calculus 1 is basically "spesh in 12 weeks" minus the physics part (kinematics).  Calculus 2 is just an extension of Calculus 1 and having a good foundation in Calculus 1 will put you in a good position for Calculus 2.

As for proofs, there are a few but very, very elementary.  Nothing like the stuff you will need to do in Real Analysis.

If you're interested in Real Analysis at UoM, I would strongly advise doing well and nailing Calculus 2, especially if you have Barry Hughes as your lecturer.

In the US, Paul's online math notes has summaries of Calc I and II (and III?). You can see what you know on there :)
