Anything I can do to further improve my chances of being selected?

I was just wondering if anyone knows what I can do to increase my chances of being selected into the program, I was hoping to do either business management at monash, or philosophy at melbourne. For example will having a supervisory position at a part time job possibly be beneficial to applying to do business management? Or will the completion of certificate courses be taken into account?

I know my math scores will most likely not meet an A/A+ average, (currently averaging something like 70 per cent) so basically what can I do to compensate for this?
