Hey guys, how could you make your topic sentences strong?

To be effective, a top sentence must succinctly sum up the topic which you will be exploring in the paragraph. A good topic sentence should also link the paragraph's contention to your overall contention. On the same point, try to include relevant words from the essay prompt, again; to show a link between the upcoming paragraph's topic and the essay topic.
Try to avoid the excessive use of large words, as the point of your topic sentence is not to demonstrate your writing talent; but to summarise your idea.
As assessors usually mark quite hurriedly, your topic sentence is often the most important part of that particular paragraph. If it is long and wordy, it will not impress the examiner. If it concisely and accurately summarises the paragraph, the assessor is likely to read on, and thus be impressed by the ideas within :P
