If I just only have studied methods in VCE, would I be able to cope with Maths subjects in University...

and do they have different degrees of difficulty in the maths subjects at uni?

So yeah, it's a very BIG leap from Methods to Unimaths, but universities do ease you into it and usually run good programs to get you up to speed. I know Monash has one of the best, at least.

I disagree.

Specialist is harder then University maths in many ways.

But one or two topics studied in University maths are harder then Specialist.

I'd probably rank them together.

The step up from Methods to Spec and Uni maths is a large one.

Without Spec, I wouldn't recommend Uni maths. They work hand in hand on some topics, and really should only be done together.

But if you're a REALLY dedicated student... :P
rediction of Scores:

English: 40 (hopefully) ; Spec: 40, Methods: 40-45, Physics 35, Enhancement: HD. Last year- History 38; I.T 42.

Hopeful ENTER 98. (I need it for my scholarship :()

Uh wtf are you on about? Unimaths is shitloads harder than Spec. Methods of proof, epsilon-delta, riemann sums and apps of integration... all difficult!

For UMEP, maybe.

I did Monash Enhancement program, which didn't include proofs or epsilon-delta. Instead we studied Sequences and Series.

It's far easier then Specialist in that you're able to take in as many textbooks as you like to the exam, including Spec books, methods books... Christ, I had about 50 books on my table.

I don't know about UMEP, but the enhancement course I sat was far easier then spec. in more ways then one.

Dude.

UMEP: No cheat sheets at ALL

2 exams. One 3 hours, one 2 hours.

2 hour one is applications and has one question that is almost impossible to do EVERY year.

Multi-variable calculus as well is difficult. My teacher always rags on monash enhancement, says it's an insult to university maths. :-/ I'm talking about UMEP here. I should show you one of our exams. They are HARD.

I pity you =D
Monash Enhancement is the shit.
The questions are basically the same every single year.

LOL you are a pass master at 1upmanship, enwiabe

I s'pose you'd be similarly scathing about Psych being a science? say it ranks lower than tooth-picking or something like that :)

enwiabe is an arrogant pretentious Labor voter. "hey guyzhs i think we shud tax everyone to fund all these massively good causes~!@~!"!!!"

You think you know what's best, what rank things go, but in reality it's up to the individual to place the rungs of the ladder on their own values chart, or difficulty chart :)

Even trying to compare maths subjects with arts subjects is pretentious by nature. It basically supports and upholds the system that is so poor and short-sighted: the VCE aggregate. How can we take subjects from all fields, standardise them into a score out of 50 (in some cases, upto 55) and then aggregate them into a one-dimensional score, which is supposed to reflect multidimensional skills.

[end rant]

Ouch, coblin. :(

I agree with you though! The VCE is a terrible system. I don't have a better idea, but I've been talking to many that do and I'm up for anything that takes place of the utter joke that is VCE and specifically, the ENTER.
