Identify the ways in which language features are used in societal interaction and analyse variations in language use.
Write a well a constructed essay (500-800 words) on the following topic:
Language performs a variety of functions in societal interaction. Discuss the ways in which language performs at least two of the following functions:
a.   To mislead or conceal
b.   To eliminate or promote discrimination
c.   To exclude others or encourage group solidarity
d.   To offend or appease


i found this site that says language can be categorized into 3 main functions - informative, expressive, directive
