Through the lytic cycle, a cell can be be infected by a virus and display the virus's antigen. Prior to this, the cell would have displayed a MHC Class 1 marker. What happens when they display a virus's antigen? Shouldn't they be identified as non-self by the immune system and thus instigate the production of antibodies?
