Keeping up general fitness during VCE?

With all the time I have to spend academically, I struggle to find time to participate in my sport club like I used to.
Turns out I won't be able to play club sport this year.
How should I go about keeping up my fitness and staying healthy in these next two years?

Thanks :)

Hey there,
I get home about 4 pm, so I study from 4:30 - 6 and take a break and go for a run, and start studying again after dinner which is like 7:30ish. I find it helps me to concentrate more if I break study up with exercise.

I started running before year 12 as a way to keep fit and just fell in love with it, especially when you go out and around your neighbourhood. You get some real fresh air and unlike a treadmill the only way that you're going to get home quickly is by actually running.
Then year 11/12 started and I noticed my runs whilst helped me stay in shape also helped to break the everyday cycles. Been studying for a couple hours? Coming home from school tired but have to work a few hours tonight? Going for the run would wake me up. Give me a rush.

It doesn't have to be for improvement. I'd originally just throw on some music or a podcast or whatever and go on autopilot, let me legs take me and just zone out for the next half-hour or so.
Then I started tracking my running and could see how well I was doing and got interested in improving. Maybe instead of 6min/km I'm going to try and get 5:50min/km or instead of running 4km, I'm going to run 4.5km.

I may have gotten a little off track there.
I highly suggest running. It's a great way to stay in shape and if actively try to improve in it you'll see results. Not only that, I find it's a nice way to get away from all your worries for a little bit and just hit the asphalt as fast as your legs can go.

Definitely agree on the running bit! I don't play any sports outside of school (parents scared I'll get an injury etc.) so I took up running a few years ago. It's a great way to keep fit and it doesn't even take long. For me (since I've been doing this for a while now), taking 20min out of my day to run 5km (a circuit around my neighbourhood) is really worth it. 20min isn't even that long but you'll feel way better than before (and healthier too)!
On a less serious note, playing downball or playing basketball at lunchtimes can help as well.

*sigh* Seeing that time makes me regret that I have no cardio anymore *cry*.

Consistent exercise, as a duty to your study. If you want to do well, you're obligated to take care of yourself :P

I think you can definitely fin in some sort of exercise, running is probably the most convenient because of the lack of equipment. I'd normally do 20 hours uni time including travel, 12 hours work a week, then fit in 12+km swimming, 220km+ biking and 30km+ running, along with studying as well.

5km in 19:15 for me, although that was a few months ago. I mainly train for tris though and am looking at worlds this year, and running is my weak leg. Get on pro4mance everyone!

Try cycling instead of running some days to change up the rhythm, otherwise it might get a tad boring. I do about 30km in an hour everyday.

Boxing and skipping are also great ways to relieve stress.  :)

Bwhahaha. Nah, it definitely took time.
I've been running for 2 years now. When I started I couldn't even make it to the milkbar down the road without being red as a tomato and unable to breathe. Now I'm just as red as a tomato.

Sprinting wise yes but after a while of running you learn to pace yourself so you don't tire out so quickly. Your body gets into a rhythm and you know your limitations I guess (well for me anyway).

Oh yeah and before any run or if you're cycling... remember to stretch! And try to run on grass (like on an oval) rather than on concrete/asphalt as well (easier on the knees).
