Bringing a dictionary with sticky-note "bookmarks"

I have put sticky note "bookmarks" in my dictionary with the letter of each section i.e. a sticky note saying "a", "b" etc to mark out each letter section of my dictionary. Would I be permitted to bring the dictionary into the exam or is that banned by VCAA?

I can't find anything on the website about it; it simply says
Quote
Language Written Examinations – Any printed monolingual and/or bilingual dictionary in one or two separate volumes.

Dictionaries may be consulted during reading time and throughout the above examinations, but must not contain any highlighting or annotation.

Dictionaries are NOT permitted in any other examination including Language oral examinations.

Dictionaries that contain a thesaurus are NOT permitted. Electronic dictionaries are NOT permitted.

I am unsure whether writing a single letter on the sticky notes constitutes "annotation"?

Personally I think writing on a sticky note would count as an annotation (since you're marking in the book) and if the sticky note is flapping out of the dictionary then I don't think that'd be allowed as well... I know you're allowed to do this for Maths so I'm unsure if it works for languages but couldn't you fold pages to indicate where each letter is? It's save you from annotating/bookmarking where each letter is..

Not allowed - just take the dictionary without any sticky notes or markings.

No you're not; but naturally, people do it discreetly anyway.

Reading time is only for 'reading', as the term implies.

Are you allowed to fold the pages before entering the exam? Do they check?

your supervisor/ teacher will flip through your dictionary prior to commencing the exam.

They might get suspicious if they see a few folded pages?

Our teacher told us that folding is not legit, but they don't really care. So do it at your own risk - our whole class is probably going to do it, so why not.

Sticky notes is definitely not allowed - I would say it constitutes cheating, tbh,
