Hi all, I'm currently in Year 10 and choosing my subjects for next year, i'm currently doing year 11 biology. I am asking for your opinions on whether to do chemistry or physics next year. I prefer maths over science and i'm at the same success level at both. My goal is to study psychiatry in medical school. Thanks.

It would be better to do chemistry as it’s needed as a prerequisite to get into some medicine courses

Purely in terms of your career goals, chemistry is the better option.

Biology is connected to both but the connection is more overt with chemistry. Additionally,  more of the VCE chemistry study design will be relevant to your goals than is the case for the VCE physics study design

Agreed with the above that Chemistry would be the best choice, as it's a pre-req for undergrad medicine and a number of courses that traditionally feed into medicine.

Just want to add though that you can't actually study psychiatry as a specialty at medical school. People specialise after they've qualified as doctors :)
