... says the native speaker. This is the worst subject ever to grace VCE. Do not do it, AT ALL COSTS.

Dude, you can ask anyone at my school. I'm non-native, my parents don't speak the language at home and I am fairly liberal in my political views. I did absolutely no work in second semester hebrew after doing poorly in the first few sacs. I barely did any practise for the oral or the written and walked away with that 28 raw. Hebrew is an absolute bludge. If you were writing 2-3 essays a week for the subject and only got 28 you gotta wonder:
1) Was your teacher a moron?
2) Were you not learning anything and just repeating the same mistakes over and over again?

To be honest with you, Scopus' Hebrew class of 2006 was not particularly bright. It's no wonder their average was 28. I'd heard from people inside the class that some just didn't care, others barely did any work nor listened to teachers and they were the ones who brought the whole class down down. Yes, there may have been some intelligent people in that cohort but on the whole, it was not a good class.

If you've been getting 1 Highs on all your sacs, I'm fairly certain your study score will be in excess of 35. If you get 35+ then it will have been worth the blood, sweat and tears that is involved in actually doing Hebrew work. What may seem painful and depressing now will be soon forgotten if you've actually managed to do well. Good luck.

Oh man, you have exactly my regrets. I did Hebrew and Methods in the same year and WISHED I just did Further instead.

My experiences in Hebrew?

Me at start of year: All I need is 35, I'll work hard and not let it get me down!
First sac: Good (equivalent of like 2 - medium)
Me after: Fuck, I gotta work harder.
Second sac: Very Good (Equivalent of about 1 - low)
Me after: Heh, improving! Nice.
Third sac: Good.
Me: fuck this, *concentrates on methods*

A week before oral:
SHITSHITSHIT *starts on detailed study*

My Hebrew experience in a nutshell. It didn't help that my teacher was incompetent and unprovokedly (although this is disputed) mean to me. >_>

Do spec, because to get a 40 you only need 85% across both exams and if you put in the work, it's piss easy to do.
