Getting 40 raw for Chinese is pretty hard...
Yeah, I figure. And it doesn't even sound that high! Have you done/are doing any 3/4s this year or next?

Yeah, I'm talking 40 raw so it scales to 50 or 51 or something awesome.
Fair enough, thanks for the info, it's much higher than I expected but I'll work towards it in preparation for next year :)

Ohh, why can't I be Chinese :(

Same goes for most of the other languages. Some, like Latin scale even higher I think. :) But languages are hard.

Nah, next year.
How many? Just Methods? Or Chinese as well? I wish I'd done a 3/4 this year. Then I wouldn't be pummeled by subjects in year 11.

I think I can handle 7 subjects (incl three 3/4s). I always like a challenge :P
Are you doing just Chinese 3/4 next year then?

Yeah, true. I gave up on French in year 9. Haha, Latin goes from 30 to 47 :o But there's only 15 or 20 (?) 40+ scores each year.

yes, its like piano these days, all politics...

ive been through it myself, my friend who had a tutor from xin jing san did chinese SLA 2008 and that teacher was his oral examiner, both knew it but still did the oral, he ended up with 46.

theres more, and it's not just politics, theres too much luck involved in chinese LOTE, if u got SL for ur oral examiner ur basically screwed (gloamy would know what im talking about :P)

Haha if you manage to get 40 raw in SL, you are truly a legend.

The highest any of my friends got for SL was 37 raw. Scaled to like 47. He did the art of war for detailed study and got A+.

getting 40+ for Chinese SL is freakin' hard. I knew people who were super pr0 at Chinese but still couldn't crack 40. The difficulty is on a different level to the "mainstream" languages.

...but it scales so who cares =p

But won't that be the case with all languages that have an oral component?

With your friend, it happens all too often.  There's a lot more "tricks" if you want to call it involved, but I don't think I'm in the position to reveal them.  If you go or went to a top performing Chinese school, you'd know what I mean.

It's not as prevalent as Chinese.  Chinese and all its components are notorious for this.

And with S.L., you are screwed to the max.  If you do get S.L., pray to God that you get 100% in the written exam, because in all seriousness, that will probably be the only thing that will get you a 30+.
