Hi, iv got a English langauge sac 2 coming up, and the topic was
" the use of euphemism in all its forms shows that English speakers in the 21st century are reluctant to offend others, and even go to great pains to conceal the truth, in their desire to be seen as politically correct. Discuss :
Euphemisms are deigned to show politeness and minimise the unsavoury effects of profanities and taboo expressions
Politicians, the military and corporations use doublespeak to water down the reality of actual world events for their own reasons.
Political Correctness is a set of political policies that are being promoted in Australia, New Zealand, Britain, the United States and Canada which amour ( my sheet says amounr , not a word? :S ) to the extermination or "ethic cleansing" of the mainstream culture of these countries.
