Gooood. Have a formal practice oral exam with some experienced examiners from another school on the weekend. I think it's like a company, like the revision lecture people. Should be interested, we have to be taped and then listen to it later..eep.
How are you goin?

I reckon it's been pretty hard preparing for it. There's just too many questions that they can ask us. Less than 1.5 months to go =/

I just had a good session preparing for it, and also the listening section on the end of year exam.
And yea there are alot of questions, but we can get most of them in the bag i think (=.

Whatlol, how long have you studied Indonesian for?
sapriol, darcy42, how long have you guys studied indo for?
how long do you guys think it takes to become fluent?
(i lived in indo for 2 years when i was younger and accidently learned a bit, just wondering whether it's much more difficult to pick up on your own in australia)

I'm doing western influences on the lives of Indonesians. It's a good topic, but there's just so much to talk about.
You've started preparing for the writing exam already?

We've done several practice written exams. I really need to practice responding in Indonesian, both reading and listening.
The responding in English questions I am fine with, and the essay writing is also good, but I am always disappointed with the respond in indo ones. So easy to just copy slabs of writing from the passage! haha

Ahh, wow. We haven't started on any yet. Should I be worried? haha
Mmm, I guess copying those slabs could be an easy way to answer the responding in Indo questions? hehe

But they dislike it and deduct marks for it. Need to use your 'own words' apparently.

I've been studying Indo since year 7, but back then we didn't really learn much. I'd say we learnt the most in year 9. And I guess we didn't pick it up on our own since we take around 5 classes a week. What year are you in this year? If your school doesn't offer Indo, I think you'd be fine learning it outside of school...

I've been studing it for 12 years, but in primary school I learnt very little. I definitely learnt the most in V.C.E, which makes sense.
I think that with the right amount of practice anyone can become fluent in Indo, you can definitely learn on your own. Although I've never been overseas, I've heard that visiting the country is the best way to increase fluency.

I have been studying since year 7, also since year 10 i have studied through distance education.

Yes this is true, thats why its good to have an excellent vocabulary base, but its better copying the slabs than nothing.
