That doesn't look like you would be allowed to use it for chem :P

I used that calculator in my 1/2 Chemistry exam. :P

Yeh, well at our school, we got to use the TI-nspire for the Chem 1/2 exam. They don't really care for 1/2s.

That doesn't actually mean anything. I used my CAS for both my chem and physics exams this year. :P

VCAA really should list authorised scientific calculators.

I'd like to defend my calculator. :P

I don't see any problems with it - you can't graph anything on it and as far as I know, you can't possibly cheat with this calculator (unless someone else knows something I don't)!

For all science subjects, yes - except for Biology and Psychology, which doesn't require the use of any calculators.

Yes you are. I used it in my Chem exams and the supervisor saw it and didn't say anything. ( Almost everyone i my class had it)

Well I need to buy a scientific as well...I still have no idea. They all seem pretty decent...the TI seems popular. But I've also been told that the CASIO is so simple yet powerful.

Honestly, I don't want something that seems too complicated because I really only need it for Chemistry. Can anyone tell me what the most complicated use of a calculator with Chemistry is? Also simplicity is good because it means cheaper, and I can't really see much use after I finish schooling which means re-sell or throw into storage.

Texas instruments TI-30XIIB
ive had this since year 7 and it's been a pretty handy.
I've had this calculator since I won it in some Maths Competition in Year 6, but I now need to get a new calc, the old TI is unreliable and the buttons are jammy. TI 30XB Multiview or Casio?
I won the GAT: 49/50/50.

The fx82 has the option of statistics, linear regression etc,. Some of the other calculators don't. It is worth it for the options? Will we need it for any of the mathematics subjects or any of the sciences etc.?

Thanks.

I bought the TI-30XB multiview. It's AMAZING. It may not have as many of the functions as the Casio, but I think it's simplicity is what makes it so amazing. It has everything you need for the sciences, and it's not so complicated; you don't have to go through so many secondary functions to get what you need.
Personally, as a TI-Nspire user, the variables and STO-> (store) buttons are incredibly useful especially when you are dealing with so many different values. If you use the Nspire, I especially recommend it because it will be very familiar. The other scientifics are just unnecessarily complex in my opinion. ALSO...it's crazy thin unlike the Casio. (the sharp is pretty thin as well)

p.s. I really hate calculators as a maths person...so this is glowing praise from me.
