How many subjects are needed in Yr 12 to do MUEP or UMEP?

I had course counseling today and the teachers there didn't know how many subjects I need to take in year 12 to be able to do an Enhancement Study. I want to do:
* Physics
* Methods
* Specialist
AND
* MUEP Maths.

But the teachers there made me put down those 3 VCE subjects plus 2 others (English and Accounting) because they didn't know how many I had to take.

Can anyone help me with this?

I think you have to have at least 5 3/4 subjects....

In addition to that, you have to do well in the vce subjects that are related to the umep subject  you want to take (so you want to do maths, which means you have to do well in speciailist and maths methods)
check on the umep website or something :)

Quote from: VCAA
To earn your VCE, you must satisfactorily complete at least 16 units.

Regardless of how many units you do altogether, you must satisfactorily complete:

1. At least three units from the English group listed below:
-Foundation English Units 1 and 2
-English Units 1 to 4
-English as a Second Language (ESL) Units 3 and 4
-English Language Units 1 to 4
-Literature Units 1 to 4
At least one of these units must be at Unit 3 or 4 level. However, VTAC advises that for the calculation of the ENTER, students must satisfactorily complete both Unit 3 and Unit 4 of an English sequence.
2. Three sequences of Unit 3 and 4 studies in addition to the sequence chosen from the English group. These sequences can be from VCE studies and/or VCE VET programs.

I think you'll be fine

BTW,
I love your year 12 subjects Damo17! It must be such a fun year, not having to do English at all ^______^

Thanks, they are so cool. I'm sure I can do 3 VCE subjects and MUEP Maths, but it's just that teachers at school aren't sure yet. Have to wait on more info.

I'm not very good at English so i'm looking for 30-35 Study Score this year. I thought about doing it next year but I get thinking of how much time it will take to study and get better than this year, I would rather spend that time on my other subjects to get the high scores I want. Plus a 3 hour exam!!! No Way one will be enough.
I hate English!

I only had 4 written and I was admitted. I don't think they especially care.

contact Melissa Melder (enhancement coordinator) if you are feeling rather unsettled.

ps, the exam isn't that bad.

Thanks, I think my school will be getting more info in the next few weeks, then i'll know for sure.
I'm sure i'll do o.k, if i study alot. I just don't like english and the thought of doing a 3 hour exam of my least favourite subject is daunting.

I did 3 + UMEP.
English, Specialist Maths, Chemistry and UMEP maths.

HOWEVER, on my application form, I said I was gonna do English, Specialist Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Religion and Society and UMEP (I was gonna do 1 of physics and r+s if i didn't like my 3+4 results from yr 11, but my results were good so I dropped both).

I think this is right. The university enhancement takes the 6th spot, which may be a silly little technicality where it cannot give you a score for the "sixth subject" if you didn't have a fifth one.

But according to your signature, you're doing 5 3/4's (in total) anyway, so you're set.

So if in total, over the 2 years, I would complete 5 3/4's then it would be alright to do only 3  3/4's and a MUEP in yr 12?

so 5 unit 3 & 4's are good? it doesn't matter if you don't do 5 in the one year?
if that's the case then i'm dropping physics on our subject selection day and it's time to send an application for monash philosophy of science :D.
