Hi guys im just having trouble picking my subjects for next year
Im Averaging 95+ for methods atm. im not really kind of person that studies alot and ive been told if i pick spesh i have to spend a lot of time. What should i pick?

also is further maths really boring? is it hard to get a 40+ in it? is it hard to get 30+ in spesh?

big jump from further to spesh but i would suggest spesh if you get 95's in methods, just based on the scaling. get a 32 and maybe have it pumped up to a 43 or where about.

if you're interested in engineering, it's always good to have specialist knowledge before going to uni.

Do Specialist! From my point of view I think you'd be the type of person who would really like it (I've had a look at my friend's Further book - Spec is way more interesting ;)).

Also, doing well in Specialist usually means doing well in Methods, so from that point of view it would be better to do.

33 in spesh. Further is super competitive.

Ultimately (assuming you like maths) you are choosing between something that will be interesting, and something boring for easy marks.
The choice is up to you.

Specialist, Further is just too competitive and boring -wishes I did specialist-. If you're up for a challenge, then go for specialist (although whilst completing specialist maths related topics at ACU, I found it rather easy) plus, you wont have to try as hard, as it scales up a lot more, whereas in Further you basically can make NO mistakes, and those silly little mistakes, make your score suffer tremendously. Good luck, hope that helps. ^_^

a lot of people at my school are starting to wish they did further instead of spesh, at this time of the year.

and if you put in half the amount of time you would with spesh for further, its not inconceivable to pretty much rip your exams and get a very high SS. you get to use the calculator and a bound reference for both exams, whilst one of them is completely multiple choice - the only thing you have to really look out for are stupid mistakes. with practice you would be fine.

although i do agree it's incredibly boring.

u gotta take alot into account.

not only is further really competative coz alot of people who dont do methods do it...
spesh does take time... and yeah it has the scaling factor... BUT.... if u dont do so great..... then it COULD just bite u up the arse...

u gotta enjoy maths to do spesh and i reckon its a gift to be able to do spesh.... not everyone can do it with a click of a finger. people say anyone could do it coz its a bunch of formulars.... but in order to get the questions right u gotta interpret right.
i chose it coz it was a challenge. and yes it can be hard at times (from my point of view) but i appreciate spesh and i do enjoy it quite a fair bit.. next to legal studies its my fav sub!... actually i enjoy all my subs besides methods O.o....

in the end its up to u and how much ur willing to put up with it :)

but 95 in methods.... dude go for it!

all the best

As if this is a place where people dont laugh at your ENTER.

ENTER does not determine how smart you are. so you can STFU now...thanks
also, PM ME if you have a problem. bring up a problem which CONCERNS ME only, not half of VN who also do the same action.
thanks

just wondering, can you do all three maths (methods, further, spesh) or does vcaa not allow it?

will it count towards your ENTER? or will one of the maths be counted as not applicable or as a compulsory 7th subject?
