i've been getting full marks in the translation parts on the practice paper but the listening part where we have to write the answers in chinese are a lil fast for me...i rely on the dictionary too much. i realli NEED a 40 for chinese...coz my other studies are just so-so...:(

the translation should be good, you just have to be on the lookout for conjuctions and other unique grammatical points which will be in there on purpose
the chinese listening is pretty much the same for all. we did the 2007 exam as practice the other day, the english listening was fine- but the chinese part :| !!!
do you mean 40 raw or after scaling
cos all u need for 40 after scaling is 29! we can all do that (fingers crossed)
its the essay im most worried about, our teacher was like " memorise 10 essays and you should be fine"
like thats so easy to do!
and i have french first today lol
oh well tomorrow it will all be over :D

^ lol i need a 40 raw, i really can't afford to lose marks. for the essay i've done 7 that i "predicted" may come up...lol, added some "four worded phrases" ..if ya know what i mean and HOPING they come up!! or else....
what topics u practiced on? ..i've done issues with water saving, china/australia study differnences, experience in making frwends, turist attractions and generation gap.  these are all speechs, letters or diaries text types.
I wanna allocate around an hr for the essay tho just to check for the structure and any "wrong words"..very easy to write wrong words for me..lol.

im sure you'll be fine dw :)
yeh i know what you mean by the phrases, theyr good to have, i just really have trouble remembering them except i have a really good one in comparing chinese/australian schools (curriculum and life like activities etc)
also prepped for, applying for a job, travelling to/or just coming back from china/chinese cities, one about friends their personalities/what they look like etc, the benefits of learning chinese/languages, the benefits of leisure activities/australian sports/cultural life etc, and i one on introducing melbourne for chinese tourists
so basically a lot of different one on similar topics
and if those topics dont relate in any way
im stuffed!
but yeh all speeches, articles, letters or diary entry. we did one as a dialogue too

Essay writing is the part who seperate the people from A and A+
since Listening and reading part are extremely easy and most people will get full mark
so if u do well in writing part, i am quite sure u can get higher than 35(Raw)
