are the markers very strict like the vcaa or do they give generous marks?

In my year I'm pretty sure they were reasonably generous. I definitely thought I'd dropped a lot more marks than my grade indicated. But then again, the exam my year was ridiculously difficult compared to previous years so maybe they just marked it easier to scale the results accordingly.

It's different to VCE maths exams in that a mark of 80% means you've done brilliantly. I think over both exams it's out of 400 or something so it means you can drop up to 80 marks and still get a 5.5 increment.

how difficult is UMEP maths compared to spesh. its a university subject so how hard is it?

do you do double integrals, triple integrals? taylors theorem? what else?

oh yes, what topics overlap with spesh?

id say its very different to spesh, but their  are small connections like complex numbers, vectors, integration but nothing that'll relly assist you in spesh

Well done!
I didn't fail either!! I got H2A (75) for Biology, with practically no study!!!! Such a relief. Since I got a H2A for first and second semester, does that mean that I will get a 5 point increment, or do they combine the scores somehow?

you wont know until monday you have to be top 40 percentile which seems reasonable with those marks. congrats

Do I have a good chance of getting a 5.5 increment with a 79.5 average for the year (87 Semester 1; 72 Semester 2)?
Lol I guess I'll know soon enough but I'm just curious :)
SO pissed off about my Semester 2 subject! I had the shittiest tutor who was no help whatsoever when it came to doing those massive research assignments :(

According to that you've achieved a 'Medium Pass' which is an average "Above 60th up to 80th percentile" and gives a 5.0 increment.

I think you would be able to get the 5.5 increment. 79.5 rounds up to 80 :D

Lol yeah it sucked! I skipped some of my tutes, they were so incredibly useless!!

About that percentile thing, it says on that page: "Don’t make the mistake of assuming that your mark corresponds directly to your percentile ranking (eg that a mark of 70 automatically puts you in the 70th percentile) – it is your place in the rank of all students that determines the maximum value of the associated increment."

...Haha so I'm hoping that my 79.5 average gives me a ranking inside the top 20%, to sneak in for that 5.5 :) *fingers crossed*!

Lol :D
...Well, as it says on the UMEP page - that's not how they work out your increment, it's all about how your score ranks among the cohort.

^ i think that 79 is sufficient for a 5.5

if other umep students could shed some light on what they got and the corresponding increment that would be majorly helpful?

I think it also depends heavily on which subject it is, e.g. a science subject vs. an arts subject.
