do you think i can get in with my situation?

Well this is how it is:

Applied for UMEP philosophy which as stands requires A/A+ abg across all essay writing subjects and B/B+ avg in all other subjects. With these results do you think i can get in? Keep in mind, they said that they required a table outlining what each mark corresponds to in grades, eg A-80+ etc which i haven't done so.

3/4
Legal:49
VCD31
1/2
english:88% avg
methods:75% avg
chemistry:71% avg
physics:40% avg

I would presume that english is an essay writing subject but would you consider legal to be one?
what are my chances of getting in?

EDIT: Oh and both the principle and the VCE coordinator apparently write very good things about me in the application form. The VCE coordinator sent it off to.

I haven't applied for any uni subjects, but if I were them, I'd definitely give any kid whose got a 49 in legal a spot in philsophy...They should realise that you've (I hope) sacrificed your 1/2s at the expense of your 3/4s anyhow. HOWEVER, in the land of the bureaucracy of universities, they might have to stick with formalities. Like I said, I've never had any experience with this so yeh, all I can say is good luck =T

Oh, and no I don't think legal is an essay writing subject despite there being an essay since you're not specifically marked on how well you write, but what you write about (I assume?).

yer i did no work for unit 1/2 subjects (literally), just did sacs as they come.
To the later, well yes and no. Legal requires you to write fluently and express it in a formal manner, very similar to an english essay even with the paragraphs and all, but you're right, most of the marks come from what you write so i'm not sure whether it'd be considered one.
Thanks for the feedback shinny.
i'm so stressing out about this, doing my head in!!!!!

I think you'll get in. Your year 11 results aren't really that bad, and you got an A for English, which really counts (and I do think Legal would count as an essay writing subject). Your other subjects are just to see that you can manage year 12 while doing a uni subject, and the only result that is an outlier is physics, which shouldn't matter at all, especially if you've indicated that you're going to drop it.

IMO, you should be feeling fairly confident.

thanks for the reassurance. Yer hopefully they don't really take notice of physics but i guess i didn't really even touch my year 11 books. To think of it, now i should've opened my methods book fuck! LOL i didn't even read my english books, i just relied on quotes and the basic story line.
my main concern i think would be the part were i didn't send in the grade distribution thingo. I'm just hoping that they don't really mind if i didn't include it.

Hehe hard you are much like me (fretting over getting accepted an all that.)
The responses in this thread have made me feel a lot more comfortable too.

Good luck in getting into philosophy. I'm not sure if they really consider all your subjects though.
I hope they don't consider humanities for maths.

I think they should see how much time and dedication you have put into your year 12 subjects, and think of the year 11 subjects as something minor. You will have no trouble getting in with that excellent 49 in legal... Good luck, Admon. :)

I hadn't come across the word "outlier" [neither "douchebag" (nor a host of internet slang words)] before VN :P
lol outlier is used in further and year 11 methods.
