Title: [Monash] 2015 Semester One Results Thread
Post by: keltingmeith on July 12, 2015, 06:37:29 pm
You totally just checked your WES, didn't you? ;P

srs tho, results are supposed to come out tomorrow morning - with any luck, they'll be out sooner. Good luck, guys!

I checked it right after my exam. They like to take their time, don't they?

That's just Monash's thing - unlike unimelb where they get sent out randomly after exams (or seemingly random, at the least, from my perspective), ours are all meant to released at a set date. (which is also after all other unis I know, much grrr :|)

I thought the extension results were out already?

I'm sitting on 85/100 right now (84.7% to be exact)

Disclaimer: i'm completely foreign to this system so educate me if i'm wrong :)

Who knows, they might be.
But most of us are full-fledged uni students, not extension students. :P

I'm not looking. I'm just not looking.

I think I've said that every semester thus far, but this time I actually mean it. I don't need to know what I got and I don't want to risk seeing something dissapointing. Anyone else?

... I mean, works great if you fail a unit, you'll never know!

On the other hand, you'll never know, and then go to graduate and find out "oh shit, I failed, I can't actually graduate yet. :|"

Ah in Biomed you never know if you passed because every unit's exam is a hurdle

That is disgusting... Maths used to be like that, but then they made the exams 70% instead of hurdles, and I honestly don't know what's worse. inb4 unimelb maths student

I feel the exact same way, I am already know that I am going to be massively disappointed with my results and so, I could really care less atm. Really not keen on telling my parents about my results ah.

Ah, don't stress man. There's definitely an adjustment period. I only figured out how to properly write an essay this semester.

ENG1002 Engineering Design: Cleaner, Safer, Smarter  | 98 HD
ENG1070 Foundation Chemistry | 90 HD
ENG1003 Engineering Mobile Apps | 87 HD
ACC1000 Principles of Accounting and Finance | 86 HD

Funny I got the lowest in Accounting even though I did it in VCE. Anyway, I'm happy with that start to university. :D

Hey Dejan, reckon you learned something after it all, at least? I mean, defs sucks to get some shit scores, but you know what they say about what you learn in successes and failures!

And daaaaaaamn Zealous, absolutely killed it! Good job! (funnily enough, one of my friends was a tutor for ENG1002, be really funny if he helped you get to that 98. :P)

And as for me:

2015   CHM2911   2   SYNTHETIC CHEMISTRY   1   6   84   HD
2015   MTH2025   2   LINEAR ALGEBRA (ADVANCED)   1   6   81   HD
2015   MTH3241   3   RANDOM PROCESSES IN THE SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING   1   6   85   HD
2015   SCI2015   2   SCIENTIFIC PRACTICE AND COMMUNICATION (ADVANCED)   1   6   83   HD

Sorta mixed feelings here, but fairly pleased with the results overall - thought I'd get higher in linear algebra (would've at least liked 82 for some nice stepping scores), but oh well. Although, that 84 in chem means I got more than 0 marks for Brenden's section (aka, the worst section of any unit ever), so I'm absolutely stoked about that!

Only real annoying part is in aiming for a maths honours scholarship, I needed over 90 in MTH3241, which unfortunately I didn't get. :S The smallest scholarship requires at least 85, so I just barely made the cut there.. >.<; Hopefully I can do better in my other third year stats stuff.

Well, my WAM went from a 75.3 to a 76.4, which was apparently high enough to transfer to Arts/Law. So I'm over the moon right now with my results  ;D

 Congrats!

I still haven't heard if my transfer requests were successful; my WAM after first semester is 77.5 and I applied to transfer to arts/economics and arts/commerce. Hopefully I can be successful with my transfer as well!

I applied for a course transfer to bachelor of engineering (mechanical) and apparently I got an offer (I wasn't expecting this because my marks are really bad) I don't know what to do now :/

By the way, congrats to those who did well on their exams! For others, I feel ya!

Finally got my deferred exam results!! They took their time

ACC1000 - Principles of Acc/Finance 84 HD
BTC1110- Business Law 83 HD
ECC1000 - Introductory Microeconomics 73 D
MGC1010 - Principles of Management 72 D

super stoked given that I sat ECC and MGC a week after being in hospital for ages. Need to keep up the motivation to get my average above 80 this semester.

Need some ideas, I'm debating transferring into Law/Com but I already have been at uni 6 years.. It's what I'm interested in but unsure if I can commit to that long (will be nearly 30 by the time I graduated..)

Is it not possible to just leave you're degree and go into the JD? (If you're set on law). It'll shave a lot of time off.

I know you'll be a little older than most when you graduate but it happens way more often then you think. 30 isn't really that old. Time well spent isn't time lost either. If it's what you really want to do, you'll probably spend the next 30-35 (40?) years of your life doing it. It'd be real crap to look back and make those 30-40 years a shit one because you didnt take an extra year or two to get there.
