Title: water bottle
Post by: Halil on February 20, 2011, 02:07:49 pm
Ok, I do not study chemistry so I dont know the answer whether it is a basic or a hard answer.

You fill up a bottle with water. Put it in a fridge. Next day take it out. Even though the outside of the bottle was dry, eventually it gets wet. WHY?

Condensation. :)

(I think this is how it is, but: the air/temp inside the bottle of water is much colder than that of the outside air)

Indeed it is. In the same way that in a rainy day, fog clogs up the inside of the car because the inside ofthe car is much hotter than outside. Therefore the warm water saturated air contacts the colder window and forms fog.

It happens to water bottle too, the warmer and moist air when in contact with the water bottle. The water droplets in air condenses on top of the water bottle making it wet.

Condensation. :)
