Title: Fees - UoM and Monash
Post by: undefined on July 15, 2019, 05:19:51 pm
I was looking at the UoM and Monash websites for fees under a standard full time study load which seems to be 36-48 points per year for Monash and 100 credit points for Melbourne. I was surprised to see Monash's fees per year ranging from almost $30k-$40k whereas Melbourne is around $10k per year. Could someone tell me if I'm reading something wrong or if CSP etc. play a big role in the fees for each university?

I had a look here and here and found that the fees look pretty comparable, but maybe I'm reading it wrong.

For Band 3, both sets of fees are $10,958.

Monash and Melb should be very similar.. you are probably looking at international student fees to get in the 30-40k range per year

The fees are the same. Unis can only charge x fee for a course of a particular band. International fees and full fees (irrelevant to undergrad) are the only places there are allowed to be differences.

I was looking at (attached below) which seems to be full fees without CSP accidentally. So if I'm a domestic student am I guaranteed CSP at either Monash or Melbourne?

For an undergraduate degree, you're guaranteed CSP.

In terms of Commonwealth Supported Places, the same degree will across universities will be the same or very similar fees as federal legislation sets the fees rather than the Universities.  You might have accidentally looked at the international student fees during your research.

Please be aware that not all courses are commonwealth supported. If the degree is advertised as CSP on their website, and you are an Australian Citizen, then yes, you will be guaranteed a CSP if you get an offer, allowing you to receive all the benefits such as HECS-HELP etc.

Good Luck!
