Huge fan of the double decker trains in Sydney though. Can't wait for the damn light rail to finish so I can actually use it. Not sure if it will be quicker than buses though.Big feels. I'm always amused when I catch a train in Sydney. Will it sit upstairs or downstairs? So mAnY OpTioNs lmao
train badwhat'd said train do now? 😂
What's everyone's opinions on high speed rail? As in if it was fully-fledged in Straya?Big want
//Hurstbridge line (Vic)? I had the exact same problem this weekend. I spent more than seven hours commuting across two days. :o (replacement busses are the literal worst)
The new Sydney light rail is incredibly slow! Much quicker to take the bus. Hopefully, they’ll improve this in the future :)It's horrible if you're in a rush lol. I just love the no motionsickness.
Umm, did anyone else see that the myki fares will increase from January 1.I’m glad I paid for a yearly myki pass in May now.

This often happens yearly.I think up by 20 - 40 cents depending on which Public Transport you're using. Doesn't sound like a lot, but over a period of time I feel like it would make a bit of a difference.
What's the prices like next year? 😅
Travelling across the city today and I've decided that rather going in and back out on trains I'm going to do it on two busses. It's meant to take less time so fingers crossed. I'm taking a backpack, duffel bag and pillow with me, so I REALLY hope that the bus isn't too crowded. Luckily I'm getting picked up at the other end so I won't have to carry it all far in the heat.Hopefully it isn't too crowded for you!
I love the independence public transport gives me, but I always feel awkward trying to carry lots of stuff. Like when my friends and I tried to take a massive esky to Brighton beach and back on the train. Coming home in rush hour was quite a difficulty. Or bringing my bike home when people are coming home from work. At least those two were on trains.
I've only finished my second official day of university and I already feel like Melbourne's public transport system will become one of the very few things I genuinely hate. Also, am I the only person who just sits on the train on the way to uni looking out the window? It's kind of hard to fit in a slice of productivity when you're on a moving vehicle.

BTW Siemens > XTraps > ComengsThis is contentious :P
This is contentious :P
For me: XTraps > Siemens > rust buckets
(That being said, XTraps were introduced on my line in late 2016 from memory, and are still a novelty to me so -shrugs- haha)
I miss the sardine trains in the morning </3
Second day in a row I've caught a 'peak' train between 7:20 and 7:50 on the Werribee line. There's nearly noone on the train and honestly doesn't feel like peak 😅
Metro have decided to make Melbourne Central one way traffic as a trial this week (as in exit via the Elizabeth St exit, enter via Swanston St exit). Looks good on paper in theory, but in all honestly I think it's a pretty stupid idea for those connecting with trams at either exit, and not to mention that the "exit" way doesn't have the station lifts- so there goes any accesibility for those who need it.
Same bro, but I doubt they'll change peak times because they'll have to rechange it, but there are technically more people during these times than any other time, even now.
I actually get a seat, and the 601 bus usually runs empty or 3 people on it before school
I'm thinking about sitting one of my Monash online exams on campus so this is good news
on a scale of 1-10, how safe do we feel abt taking pt rn gang?I found it pretty empty, and about 75-80% people are wearing masks (from my experience throughout the week) if that helps? :)
(i gotta get down to the city later today and idk if i should ride or not)
Took the bus for the first time in four months. It was such a weird experience.

on a scale of 1-10, how safe do we feel abt taking pt rn gang?I'd say probably around 7. Nevertheless, seriously wondering if I shouldn't.

75-80% people are wearing masks (from my experience throughout the week)Where are you going on?? Round where I am, it's around maybe 20-30% using it, including me (real pest because how on earth are you meant to breathe?). Then you cough and get death glares from every corner.
Feels odd to wear a mask on the train because maybe not enough physical distancing...Out in western suburbs and then also inner city. You'd be surprised, but then again you just have to pick your times.I'd say probably around 7. Nevertheless, seriously wondering if I shouldn't.Where are you going on?? Were there many people?

Bump!Same here for Melbourne :(
Holy heck I just remembered that my concession Opal card will be expiring very soon since I'm no longer a student. My bank account and I need to mentally prepare to pay the full adult fares on Sydney buses and trains :(

When the Suburban Rail Loop would likely reduce your commute to uni by at least half an hour to an hour but you won't even be in uni by the time it's done :(
Same with the Metro Tunnel. I'm alright as I live close to uni now, but it would have given me more options on where I could live. However, I'll be long gone from university, with two degrees, before its finished.I saw this on twitter - I follow all the rail fans on there haha
Also excited to see that the High Capacity Metro Trains (HCMT's) are now in service as of today.
