Hey all,
As always, we've been thinking of ways we can grow and improve our forum community in Victoria and, more recently, New South Wales.
One idea that I actually reckon is really cool... why don't we change the post milestone structure?
Hear me out.
Right now, you start as a Newbie, and you stay a Newbie until you've made 50 posts!. I dunno about you, but 50 posts is quite a lot in this day and age. Perhaps it wasn't in the 90s when these type of post milestones were invented. I just think that someone with 50 posts is no longer a Newbie. That, and I think Newbie is actually a negative word - it isn't very welcoming, and one thing that makes me proud about AN is how welcoming and chilled we are with new people...
Then, "respected member" at 200 posts, then Guru at 500, then Part of the Furniture at 1000.
I think when forums reigned supreme on the internet, and post quality was extremely low, 0-50 was probably appropriate and would have been surpassed in a matter of days.
But on our forum, with relatively 'good' posts and not a lot of shitposting like you might see on random forums, it actually means quite a bit to reach a good post count on AN.
For as long as I've been on AN, the post milestone has been the same. I think it's the default one... But we can change this so easily?! It's a marvel that it hasn't been updated to something better
It would be great to get a yes/no vote in the poll above. It would also be AMAZING to get suggestions from you guys - what do you think appropriate names/square counts are for whatever number of posts?
I've put forward one sort of non-serious suggestion below as an example and to show you what I mean.
Spoiler

5000 post?
Would love your input on this matter - and not just from people with lots of posts. This is something that literally everyone is involved with, so would love to hear your opinion even if you have never posted before but are reading this, or if you've posted 1000+ times.
