Title: "Violent extremism" - a bit confusing, don't you think?
Post by: dmitridr on October 09, 2015, 06:07:01 pm
In preparation for your exam, I would recommend checking out this recent post by current PM Malcolm Turnbull https://www.facebook.com/malcolmturnbull/posts/10153749633046579

You'll notice that he refers to religiously motivated violence as 'violent extremism'.

Then, one of the top comments says "As our leader, can you please have the courage to say that. Can you please fight to maintain the Australian way of life, and start calling a spade a spade". Again, a classic example how language can be used to manipulate the truth, except here the Australian public is not so easily deceived.

By using the term 'violent extremism', what is PM Turnball aiming to conceal?
