Since minor irrelevant discussions about SES and education are clogging up AN, I thought it was time to bring out The Debate.

A cat stood at my window staring at me for 15 minutes, it then proceeded to eat a bird...plus cats just stay outside the house for most of the day (at least my neighbour's cat does!). So yeah. I guess that's dogs all the way for me

I have a dog and a cat, and after thinking about this a long time... I'll choose dogs, they're more fun to be with, and a lot more companionship :D

I like the personality of a dog more. But pragmatically-speaking, I'd live better with a cat, because I can't take care of helpless things that need my attention 24/7 sadly :'(

Those Googled reasons are for demonstrative purposes ;) , but seriously, my neighbour's cat sits outside my window hissing and clawing at the glass. I've never even walked near it before. Thus I maintain good caution around cats and I believe that cats are just out to get us. :P #teamdoggo

Cats have so much personality. Okay granted that means you get the occasional I'll hiss at anything and I-have-grand-plans-for-world-domination-and-I-will-kill-you-in-your-sleep-when-you're-not-looking-human ones, but then you get these delightful fluffballs of cuteness and intelligence and weirdness and did I MENTION CUTENESS.

My friend when she showed me her cat casually was like "oh she scratches me a lot. It's all over my back, because she mostly wants to get on my head" and then proceeded to show me her scars from hers arms and back. Cats are just difficult like humans. Why you would want a cat/human is beyond me.

Kinda unrelated... But there were a few times in the CBD where I've seen a person walking around with a cat literally just lying on his (or her, don't really remember) shoulders. That's actually the coolest cat I've ever seen. See attached picture 8)

If my cat can do that, I'll definitely go team cat, but all my cat does is meditate the whole day.

Cats wash themselves, don't require walks, don't slobber/jump all over you, know when to respect your space, and are much better judges of character (dogs just like anyone...how can you use that to your advantage??)

What argument is there here? I have both cats and dogs, and both have problems.
Cats won't stop scratching and biting, and will make it obvious that they want your pet bird for supper. Also the fact that they crap everywhere without serious effort on your part and divine intervention.
Most dogs will chase any ball that falls out of your hands, also crap everywhere, but there mostly outside, and will chew through any shoes you ever leave lying around.
Personally I would say dogs because I inevitably found good ones, that are now dead, but cat people will argue the same thing.
Regardless, the first one you get is generally the one you like. No wonder dogs generally wins the argument.

But I am still bound to say, that while I still love both, I have a special spot in my heart for cats. However, their special part is about 1/4 of the size of the special sport for dogs in my heart.
