Hi zhouzhennan,

I don't do optometry at Deakin, so unfortunately I couldn't really tell you what being a student in that course is like.

One thing worth noting is that for health degrees, the university you go to doesn't really matter as all of them have to be accredited by their specific boards (e.g. Optometry Board of Australia). This means that you're probably going to be learning the same / similar things no matter where you go. Deakin's optometry course is accredited (see here).

Some things to think about:

- after researching, what do you like and dislike about the course? It might be helpful (if you haven't already) to have a look at Deakin's Optometry Open Day presentation (linked here). It has some information about the way the course is run. Do you like the accelerated nature of the course and / or that there are trimesters?
- is the location convenient for you, and if not, are you willing to travel longer distances compared to other unis or live closer to campus?

Even if it turns out that you don't like the course for any reason, there is always the option to transfer to another course!

Hope this helps you out a bit :)

Please, if anyone goes to Deakin, does anyone have any information about places to safely park a bike on campus? I'd be planning to cycle to Deakin, would there be a problem with that?

Hi, if you're going to Burwood, there is a shed inside the car park that you can safely park your bike :)

I was finally getting to fill out the scholarship application for Deakin, and it says that I need supporting documents, but when I look at the examples given, the only one I can see that can fit (since I did nothing pretty much such as leadership, etc.) is the 'referee statement'; do I need this?
Thanks!

The 'Academic Integrity' unit (HAI010) - is there any way to complete it before the trimester starts? I.e., now-ish?
If so, where'd I look for that?
Otherwise, when can I do it?

Don't stress about it. You usually do it when your units get released shortly before T1 starts.
