Title: Digital camera (searching)

Hey everyone!

I am currently looking to buy a digital camera, and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what model/brand is great for beginners? I have looked at older and more current models of Canon digital cameras, but I'm not entirely sure which one would be suitable for me. Also, due to being a beginner, I am willing to spend up to $400-500 on a camera, at this point.

If anybody sees this and responds to this, thank you for your help!  :)  :D

Would this camera be used for photography, filming or both?
