Title: Doing VCE Literature with English?
Post by: peridot on February 18, 2022, 05:42:48 pm
Hi! As the title suggests, I was wondering about the benefits/disadvantages of doing just mainstream English or English + Lit in Year 12.
My English grades have been fairly decent, and the school I go to is very strong at mainstream. Literature...not so much, as the cohort is usually quite small.
I guess a pro of doing Lit with English is that an English study must be counted in the primary 4. (I would consider Eng Lang instead of Lit, but my school doesn't offer it.)
However, I have heard past students say that mainstream English and Literature would conflict with each other (something about essay/analytical styles are really different?), especially as I would be doing them simultaneously.
If you could please offer any advice or share your experience with these subjects, then your help would be very much appreciated! Thank you!
