I've got a pair of awesome noise-cancelling Phillips headphones, ohhhh so good. But I've had 3 pairs of iPod headphones where the left-side stops working ahah, shitty things they are.
It's always the left side with the ipod headphones.

Ya left side of my headphones broke too

Hmmm...  I've gone through 4 earphones - 3 have been on the left side and 1 on the right.
