Is it me or is the world becoming a better place? :P

It's a great place. Interesting how plastic surgeons are calling for this, not psychologists or other professionals that would receive little benefit from this and are more qualified to inform public policy.

I also disagree that any forms of cosmetic surgery be covered by medicare... root cause etc etc, BTW psychologists ARE covered by medicare... I don't really see an issue with the status quo. Imagine the strife if this were suggested for penis size. Also, not sure if this was brought to light, but in answer to Ninwa, breast reductions for medicinal purposes are currently covered...

@ Herzy - What sort of purposes, do you know? As in, removal because of breast cancer concerns or...? I can't think of any other reasons.

In terms of the breast reductions? Stress on the lower back etc.

That's not purely cosmetic though.

If it's not purely cosmetic then what else is it?

The skin has been damaged so it might be more than a superficial injury. Mostly cosmetic, but not totally. Plus I don't think it was the intent of herzy's post to include things such as burns etc.

Depends on whether you mean plastic surgery or cosmetic surgery for aesthetic purposes only.

It's plastic surgery but has medical benefits as well (mostly to do with fluid loss)
