My input...

I did the PhB and lived in Burgmann for six months. I like to party myself (I go out at least once a week here), but I found the atmosphere at Burgmann was too much for me. There are some absolutely lovely people, but yes, there is certainly a party culture. Johns is even moreso.

If I were still at ANU, I'd probably look into living in a multishare in unilodge. The facilities are good, and the common rooms are big.

In terms of employment, you can probably get a part time job or a scholarship. I tutored for 3 hours a week at made $110 from that.

does anyone live in a hotel? LOL

hotel vs unilodge, your thoughts?

EDIT: @chanstheman: thanks. i honestly think 50%+ of the stuff i'd want to bring would be textbooks .... Are you sharing a room at unilodge? are you currently working?

hotel = far more expensive, unilodge= self contained hotel for uni-students.

I am in a single studio (on my own) and I don't work ATM, centrelink and parents are paying the bills. I am however very careful with my spending and spend very little relative to most others. It is cheaper in a multishare (and I was considering moving to one) however you do sacrifice a few things (fridge space being a big one); many of the bigger problems weren't going to be much of an issue since it was going to be with friends and guidelines. I am a bit of a freak with having everything how I like it, so I don't think I would like it that much in a multishare however it can get lonely on your own.

You do however have that many people in the same building so it's not hard to find something social to do.

Which Unilodge would you recommend? I'm thinking about applying for unilodge as it seems to be cheaper than Bruce or Burgmann. Also if you don't mind, how did you manage to get funding from centrelink? Im planning to pay them a visit in the next few days to get funding for accommodation.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Davey is shit. Kinloch is less shit. Warrambul is good. Haven't seen the new one but they've got a gym.
It's really not that hard to quantify..., but I believe that being raped once is not as bad as being raped five times, even if the one rape was by a gang of people.

how much rent assistance are you getting from centrelink if you don't mind me asking? do your parents have to chip in a lot?

@JellyDonut: there's a 4th unilodge? what's it called?

The new UniLodge is called Lena Karmel. It's going to be massive and awesome if you don't mind being billed heavily 52 weeks a year.

I get full rent assistance (whatever that is) and very minimal youth allowance. My parents pay my rent and the centrelink money goes towards everything else. To get it you just go online and fill out a youth allowance application (long and boring thing) and centrelink will tell you if you are applicable or not.
