Serious question here, how easy exactly is it to score above 25 SS in English, or similarly, how hard is it score below. What kind if grades would one need to score 25?

Maybe C's, I guess it depends on how the cohort goes.

Perhaps.

GA1: C
GA2: C
GA3: C

I might be wrong though.

I'd say it would be pretty hard to score below 25 in English tbh. Getting 5s and 6s in the exam (which is fairly easy as very few ppl get <4/10) will get you 25 with average SACs.

If you got 50 in further you'll be fine. People who get less than 25 probably don't write all three essays. Apparently quite a few people turn in completely blank script books. Trust me, I always sucked at english and barely did any work all year and still got a decent score.

To be honest, if you write just introductions for all 3 essays, you'll get above 25, because look at it this way, to get below 25, you have to be in the bottom 15-ish percent of the state, and guess what, everyone does English, now think of the absolute drop kicks who don't care about their VCE and are only there just to get their certificates, they all do English, now think about it, you're surely better than them, and there's a lot of them (at least 20% I'd say of all VCE students) - easy 25+

Paul, I think to score 25 or below you would be more in the bottom 23-24% of the state rather than 15% (I could be wrong, but I'm quite sure). So, say, the bottom quarter. The rest of your post is right on the money, though.

A study score higher than 25 in English is very achievable. As Paul mentioned you can beat probably 1/5th of students just by writing a piece, as a lot of students don't care. You'll also surpass another chunk of students who just aren't good at English, but still try.

I'm not sure of the type of school you attend, but if you attend one of the upper-range schools you probably wouldn't know of these students. Alternatively, if you attend one of the lower-range public schools you should have the evidence right in front of you. At my school there were students who would receive marks such as 3/50 in SACs, not because they were dumb, but instead because they simply didn't give a sh*t.

hypothetical question here: what SS would these grades yield:
GA 1: D
GA 2: B

lets just say Im not that interested in doing class
work for English (bores the hell out of me) but come exam time, I knuckle down and get a B...Im not saying I want to do this, its just my worst case scenario.

Well it has 3 GA for one.

I had a D+ average for GA 1 and 2 and A for GA 3.
That dragged up D+ in GA 1 to C+ and GA to B.
GA 3 remained A, and resulted in score of 32.

My teacher said though that I was a clear and concise writer, so just develop some ideas, and practice on your ability to write.
‎"We divert our attention from disease and death as much as we can; and the slaughter-houses and indecencies without end on which our life is founded are huddled out of sight and never mentioned, so that the world we recognize officially in literature and in society is a poetic fiction far handsomer and cleaner and better than the world that really is."

Even though the subject bores you, aim for a little higher than 25, your ATAR will thank you :)

I got a 29 with the following:
GA1 (U3 SACS): B (low)
GA2 (U4 SACS): C+ (high)
GA3 (EXAM): C+ (no idea, probably highish though)

I have never been good at English and did basically no practice essays except the school-scheduled practice exam. Also, I was in year 11.
Basically, it's fairly hard to score below 25 unless you try. I don't want to offend anyone with that statement mind you, extraneous circumstances may have resulted in some sort of hindrance on your ability to perform on the day of the exam.
