Just wondering if anyone knows whether civil engineers are high in demand in Australia?

I thought they were.

Last time I heard that usually around ninety something percent (which is a very high percentage compared to other streams of engineering) of graduates with a civil eng major are able to find employment within four months of graduation.

I should've done Civil Eng rather than Chem Eng! grrrr hehehe.

I went to the RMIT open day today and spoke to a Chemical engineering professor there and he said Chemical engineering has 90-95% of graduates finding employment within four months of graduation, so if your regretting your choice based on that there's no reason to :P

Are you serious about the 90-95% of chem eng graduates finding jobs after 4 months?!
I know a lot of people from my class who graduated last year and STILL do not have employment :/ Strange.

Yer that's what the professor told me. Not really sure if that's true or not.

Did he fail to mention anything about the attrition rate? Because I know they are ridiculously high. (Kinda like how they informed me about the success rate of Architecture too - 96% success rate in finding employment after graduation, but then don't mention that only 1 in 3 actually make it through to 3rd year and bother go on to study the "Actual" Bach. (or Masters) of Architecture).
