MJRomeo81, how'd u get so high for your uni marks?
How did you study?
Got any tips/advice for year 12 students intending on doing uni next year?
My best advice would be to truly understand the course material. I rote learned my way through VCE and scored 85. However, this year I changed my approach and took control of my learning. I found that when you become interested in the material you start to unlock your true potential.
Different subjects require different approaches as well. I took a variety of electives this year in addition to my IT subjects - philosophy (critical thinking), roman history and macroeconomics. Know what's expected in each assessment. If something is worth 5% it doesn't mean you ignore it. It could be the difference between 75 and 80, 90 or 95, etc.
Finally for each unit I wrote comprehensive notes in an exercise book and then summarised the material on blank sheets of A4 paper during swotvac. To condense 13 weeks of information into a few sheets of paper is a real test of understanding since it requires you to logically connect the key elements of the course together.
