News of Graham Tuckwell's donation and these scholarships came out this morning, sounds super exciting!

They are scholarships for school leavers worth $20,000 a year for up to 5 years.

Just thought I'd post this here for anyone interested.

Probably should also note that the deadline for putting in an initial application is pretty early in the year: Tuesday 2nd April 2013

I would love to get this scholarship and study at ANU! Shame you need a 95+ ATAR to be eligible... I would need to get at least a 42 in English for that...
2012 ATAR - 86.75
2013 ATAR - 88.50
2014: BSci (Statistics) at RMIT
2015 - 2017: BCom at UoM

says selection is finalised by july... does that mean they don't look at ATAR for this?

They want you to get a 95+ ATAR, but if you haven't already completed year 12, then they try to predict your ATAR:

Quote
be predicted by your school to achieve an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of 95 or higher
2012 ATAR - 86.75
2013 ATAR - 88.50
2014: BSci (Statistics) at RMIT
2015 - 2017: BCom at UoM

It says it requires at least a 95 ATAR, so you'd only be given a conditional offer in July.

It mentions on one of the pages
Quote
Scholarship offers will be made by Tuesday 9 July 2013.

Twenty-five applicants will be offered a firm place (subject to meeting the offer conditions) and five applicants will be offered a reserve place which may become a firm place if other applicants do not meet their offer conditions.

Gosh. $20k a year seems kind of excessive for an undergrad to me. PhDs only get a little extra and they are more qualified and probably more independent. I'd have thought that maybe $15k would be better so that then they can award more scholarships, helping more people (plus diminishing returns and all that).

Bahahahah. I hadn't even heard about that. I clearly don't hang around with undergraduates enough.
